Al-Kahl, Kohls, Kajal, Surma & LEAD poisoning
March 28, 2008
How do you get Capt. Jack’s smudgy, smokey-eyed look without potential harm to your health? Yes, certain al-Kahl, kohls, kajal, surma products imported from Pakistan, India & Morocco have been found to contain very high amounts of lead. Discerning which ones are safe, even within the same brand is, at best, risky. Even Ayurvedic products can be a hazard. Since lead is a naturally occurring substance, it can be said the products are, in fact, all natural. Unbelievably, some of those very products are being sold on eBay as lead free! Oh, Boo! Hiss! These products are banned by the FDA and have been imported illegally. They should all be considered unsafe. Check the links below to see pics of the products & packaging you should avoid: http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/pr2007/pr027-07.shtml http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/cos-kohl.html If you are looking for products that will provide the same look with out the health risk, Make sure the ingredients are FDA approved. Listed below are products that I like: Styli-Style Kajal Bullit (color- black or black/brown) Avon Kohl Play - Mark (color- cinder)
Keep safe, me Sparrows!
