Jack’s Look
February 12, 2008
It’s easy to get the smoky-eyed, sun soaked appearance. There is nothing precise about Jack’s eyes. They are not neat or tidy. Smudged is better. The most common mistake I see made is applying heavy color to the inner & outer corners of the eye. This creates the Cleopatra look. Stop short of the edges. If you want to go to the edges… do it lightly or smudge it with your sponge tip brush. Assume the position! At the mirror, place the elbow of your writing hand on the cabinet surface. This will steady your hand. Top Lids- Gently stretch your lid by lightly pulling outward. Using your Kajal Bullit, start from your eye’s upper inside corner. Keep close to the eyelashes and follow your lash line toward the outer edge. Stop just before the outside edge. Now With the side of the Kajal stick, dab 3-4 times across the lid. Go no further than ½ way up to the crease. Lower rims- gently stretch your lid. From your eye’s lower inside corner apply along the lash line. Again, keep close to the eyelashes. Stop just before the outside edge. Repeat this same motion again to give width to the line. Kajal is soft & will begin to take on the smudgy look soon after application. If you want to hasten the effect, you can smudge with a sponge tip make-up applicator brush. If you are going to be out in the sun, working under hot lights you may want to set it with a translucent powder I use Mehron Colorset™ Setting Powder (professional) But these are also inexpensive & readily available at discount stores or online Avon Powder-Matic Go Anywhere Loose Powder Cornsilk Classic Translucent Pressed These should be very lightly applied with a small powder bristle brush. If going totally Pirate I recommend Ve’s Pirate Palette (sorry I do not carry them) Not expert with blending? Try a bit of the Sunless tanners like Solerra Silk Self-Tanning Lotion (no tanner smell) or Au Courant Bronze Face Gel - Copper. Be warned there are hundreds of tanners & many bad ones that streak or will have you ready for your role as an oompa-loompa! Don’t try to slap some on & walk out the door. You need to find what works best for you, well before your appearance.
Keep safe me Sparrows!
